The Marketing Department

The Marketing Department was created in the academic year 2009-2010, at the Faculty of Business, University “Aleksander Moisiu”, Durres. In line with UAMD’s “Students on Focus” philosophy as an institution, the department is a structure created in the function of the student, meaning that the teaching process, services, activities and tools are available exclusively to improve the students experience on this educational institution.The Marketing Department is one of the five departments of Business Faculty. It has a Marketing Management branch and offers a full-time bachelor cycle, a scientific and professional master, as well as doctorate studies. It consists of 14 members. This department covers teaching on marketing subjects at the faculty of Business.The Marketing Department has a special importance within the faculty, as it offers study programs of interest to students in line with the needs of the labor market. The study programs covered by this department have been expanding and improving in terms of curricula, teaching methods, scientific activities, and so on. Since the creation when the number of students was about 50 students in all study cycles, today in the current academic year there are over 500 students in the three study cycles. The Department aims to maximize the quality of teaching through full-time and part-time academic staff, aiming at providing value added not only to the Business Faculty, but also to the University as a whole.The Department supports strongly the increase of the academic level, encouraging the graduation and scientific qualification of its staff members, having the largest number of academic staff with the title “Professor” at university level. Thus, at the end of the academic year 2015-2016, there were 6 members with the title “Associate Professor” and 1 with the title “Doctor Professor” and 2 with Doctor of Science degree. While during the academic year 2016-2017 two other members of this department have received the scientific degree “Doctor of Science”.The Department’s main focus is to provide excellent teaching methods through a highly professional and dedicated staff that will enable students to have a comprehensive and profound training on the marketing field so that they are ready and willing to necessary for the labor market. Our goal is for every student to feel confident that after graduation there will be multiple opportunities, thanks to the knowledge gained, to build a successful career.The Department focuses on continuous curriculum improvement, adapting to market needs, as well as student requirements from all cycles. The work culture of the department is based on comprehensive and regular discussion and debate as regards curriculum improvement, addressing issues raised by students, collaboration with business marketing experts by inviting them on a regular basis to hold opn lectures for students, initiating academic and scientific research activities, as well as those with social impact. The Marketing Department is presented with a full bachelor and second level study program (Professional Master and Master of Science). The market, which becomes increasingly competitive, requires the education of a new elite of employees and marketing managers, whose knowledge and skills will ensure competitiveness with efficiency and success in domestic and international markets. Training in the field of Marketing Management takes into consideration the changes that come as a result of transformation and development of the economy. Modules, subjects, and subjects that are dealt with in the programs offered throughout the training period are fully tailored to economic reality, student expectations, and the specific needs of business organizations. The combination of basic training with selected student profiles makes the teaching process much more interesting and enhances professional skills as well as student employment opportunities.Teaching is organized by combining several forms, such as lectures, seminars, presentations of student assignments, presentation of various videos depending on topics and discussion about them, presentation of different case studies, discussions on different articles from well-known business magazines, etc.Our mission is to provide the best and most modern curricula in the field of marketing management, enabling the Albanian market to have skilled and willing professionals to guide ventures into an innovative economy.The Marketing Department offers a high quality study program, fully compliant with the needs of students and the broader market economy and business. It is distinguished for the high level of professionalism of academic staff, contemporary curricula and scientific research, as well as the special skills and experiences that bring his graduate students into the labor market. Both the department and its students are an added value to the Business Faculties and serve as valuable business partners and institutions they cooperate, offering new and innovative energies that contribute to quality enhancement and competitiveness in the economic sector.

The Faculty of Business

The Faculty of Business dates back to the opening of the “Aleksander Moisiu” University with Decision of the Council of Ministres of the Republic of Albania, no. 801, dt 20.12.2016. It was one of the three main units of the University “Alexander Moisiu” of Durres (UAMD). When created, it is known as the Faculty of Economics and Administration. It is currently named “Faculty of Business” (FB). This has been taken since the reorganization of the university with the main units, based on DCM no. 685, dated 25.08.2010 “On the reorganization of UAMD”.Since its inception, the Faculty of Business as part of UAMD was based on the best western academic practices and experiences. Since the creation and until now it has been worked on the principles of the European Charter combining the latter with the way of assessing the American system. This is done in order for the graduated students to have readership and recognition of their diploma in different countries of the world whether for further studies or for employment. The institution issues diplomas written in both languages Albanian and English and the assessment is expressed according to ECTS and US. Moreover, the philosophy of faculty and university has been “Students on Focus” in all activities and processes.During these years, FB has undergone growth and transformation both in qualitative and quantitative terms. The Faculty of Business is the largest unit of the six faculties faced by UAMD. In its creation, the faculty was composed of 6 members, while at the beginning of the academic year 2016-2017 it is composed of 64 members. Currently, it consists of five departments, which are: Department of Economic Sciences, Department of Management, Marketing Department, Finance and Accounting Department and Tourism Department. In the first steps, only two groups of programmes were offered at the First Cycle of Full-time Studies: Administration Science (Business Administration, Public Administration and Banking-Finance Profiles) and Tourism Management (Hotel-Restaurant Profiles and Cultural Tourism). In the fourth year of the faculty establishment, the academic year 2009-2010 marked a new phase for the faculty after the Second Cycle Studies Program (DND – Second Level Diploma and MNP – First Level Master) was opened, and in the Third Cycle (Doctoral School).

The faculty opened the doors for the first time in the academic year 2006-2007 and reduced to its auditors about 500 students from almost all parts of the country. In the academic year 2016-2017, about 354 students were enrolled in the First Cycle of Studies and about 239 students in the second cycle of Studies. The faculty graduated the first generation of students in 2009, with 50 students from about 500 students at the start of studies. To date, there are 1393 full-time Bachelor students, 149 part-time Bachelor students, 765 Scientific and Professional Master student, and 60 students in Phd studies.

University of “Aleksander Moisiu” Durres

University of “Aleksander Moisiu” Durres is a public institution of higher education created by the Decision of the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Albania, no. 801, dated 20.12.2005 “On the opening of the University” Aleksander Moisiu in Durres. For the first time, the university opened the doors for students in the academic year 2006-2007, where around a thousand students from all over the country began university studies. Today, the number of students has reached about 20,000.With the opening of “Aleksander Moisiu” University, the Albanian Government did not intend to open a new institution in the country, but to open a different institution that would bring the best Western academic experiences. The philosophy of work is “Student in the Spotlight”, which means that everything that happens in the university since the teaching process, services, activities and tools are available exclusively to the student. This is possible through a dedicated and committed dynamic staff, a computerized environment that enables continuous contacts with the Western academic world and through diverse extracurricular activities.The way of developing the learning process, knowledge checking procedures, academic staff recruitment, student counseling, library service, and above all scientific research, are aimed at realizing a unique academic experience in the country that does not exclude any significant elements of European and American universities.An innovation of “Aleksander Moisiu” University, but also of the entire system of higher education in the country is the opening of the Faculty of Integrated Studies with Practice (FASTIP) in the academic year 2008-2009. This faculty is the product of a joint project of the German and Albanian governments, with the aim of building a faculty based on the best experience of the professional academy in Banden-Wurtemberg in Germany in the field of economy and management. The distinctive feature in this faculty is the continuous combination of theoretical knowledge with practice in different companies by field of study. Teaching in this faculty is conducted in English by international professors and experts from relevant fields. The curriculumis adapted to the needs of the market and is determined in cooperation with the business community.UAMD is an accredited institution evaluated by the British Accreditation Agency QAA with high standards and quality in organization and management, teaching-learning, curriculum, student support, etc.UAMD’s mision is to urge student learning and success at each academic level and nurture the academic and personal growth of students through new and market-driven curricula, joint programmes, services and resources.
